THE CORRECT ANSWER
Momma, where did I come from? That question has plagued parents for generations past, yet the answer is so simple. How would I know? Well, I learned from a very smart mom..
In 1949, I obtained boarding in Bremerton, Washington, with a family who had a large house just outside the Navy Yard, where my ship was under overhaul. This couple, Ill call Mazie and Dick, had been married twelve years and had no children. Through their church they were able to adopt a two year old girl, who they named Louise.
Little Louise was playing on the front porch one evening when I came home from work. She said, Todays my birthday..
Well, Happy birthday, I said, But I thought your birthday was next Saturday.
I gots two birthdays, she said. One when I got born and one when I found my mommy and daddy.
I did not know before that Louise was adopted and asked Mazie. She said yes, and told me the story.
As often happens in such situations, a short time after Louise came to them, they conceived, and when Louise was just a month past her fifth birthday, Mazie brought into the world little Charles, or Chucky as he became known.
A couple of weeks after Chucky came home I sat on the couch and Mazie sat in a chair having coffee, while Chucky slept in his little basinet. Louise came in the door running, stopped right beside Chucky and stared for a long minute, then ask, Mommy, why did God give Chucky to us?
Because, Mazie said, Daddy and I love each other and Chucky is our reward for that love. God loves us and wants us to love each other.
Oh, little Louise said and took off for the kitchen.
I said to Mazie, I take it that was question number two.
Yes, she said. When she asked where we got him I told her God gave him to us. I dont feel I have lied to her because I believe God did give him to us
Thats the most sensible answer I ever heard. I know my babies were great blessings and could only have been created and sent by God
