THINGS I’D DO FOR YOU
For: Audrey Ann

If I could write a poem,
Of things I’d like to do,
My poem would deal exclusively,
With the things I’d do for you.

First I’d find a rainbow,
Because, I’ve been told,
At the end of every rainbow
Is a big pot of gold.

I would bring it to your doorstep,
As the first part of my scheme,
In showing you my sincerity,
Of fulfilling all your dreams.

Then I’d take some moonbeams
And stardust from the sky
And weave a magic carpet,
To bring you to my side.

All these things I’d do for you,
For you and you alone.
In my life you’ll always be,
The queen upon the throne.

Just as nature’s beauty,
Inspires an artist’s hand,
So do you my precious flower,
Give inspiration to this man.

Though a simple poet,
Or a dreamer I may be,
I know a life without your love,
Would be an empty life for me!
