WHEN GOD CALLS ME HOME
To Joan
Don't morn my passing in selfish ways,
And cry for many years.
But pass along my personal things
To those who now cry tears.
Don't spend your fortune on marble
And flowers that wilt away.
But be kind to others and be happy,
Through all your living days.
Give to those who need it most,
The necessary things,
And make their human hearts happy
As healthy human beings.
Remember me? Oh, yes, my dear
For the love I have for you.
But love another if you can,
For those like you are few.
Remember God in humble prayer,
Creator of all there is.
And give to Him all those things
That rightfully should be his.
