My Sweetheart, Joan Me (Tom)
Joan and I were married on January 17, 1953, at the First Baptist Church in San Francisco, California.
I joined the Navy April 4, 1947 and served in the Pacific area until October, 1966.
During this time Joan stayed home with the girls, “making do” with the limited funds that came in from the monthly payments.
After leaving the Navy, I went to work with a small company in Redwood City, California.
We built, sold and serviced Engine driven electrical generator sets. In 1986, Hans Kruger and myself
started a small shop and stayed until my health reached the point where I was forced to retire in 1988.
Since that time Joan and I have moved several times and now live in Modesto, California.
We were blessed with five grandsons and three great grand daughters,
the youngest being born March 9, 2001.

LIFE'S FULFILLMENT They came to me as babies And very much in needSo beautiful and sweet, Very helpless, indeed God gave to me these babies, A blessing in my life Responsible I had to be Through happiness and strife Fulfillment of my life's desire I held within my arms. And promised to protect them And keep them free from harm. Band-Aids, bruised knees, burned fingers Colds and fevers galore And many nights a-walking Back and forth across the floor Yet great moments sure has come Of happiness and glad heart, When my lovely child did something That I believed to be quiet smart A big smile and a hug And a kiss upon the cheek Turns my heart to jelly And renders my soul quiet weak I forgot the muddy footprints On the carpet for all to see. I just remember all the blessings And what they mean to me. For they are blessed miracles Come to my home to live. With many smiles, much laughter And abundance of love to give. Then comes the time these children Who now have beard or breast To make their own blessings And flee my humble nest 1 am not young, Great-Grand-Pa, To this I must confess. But I am very happy For I've been truly blessed! ![]() |
