A MIRACLE?

Our house in Redwood City had a small covered patio with a door leading out from the kitchen. This was where the brooms and mops were kept, in a rack just outside the door. But often, the broom was not put into the rack, but leaned against the wall .

One evening our five year old grandson, Shawn, while getting himself a snack, spilled cereal on the floor. I told him he should clean it up. To do this he needed the broom.

The night was dark and the light on the patio was not working. That is a scary situation to a five year old. Shawn opened the door to the patio, then closed it again. He came in and stood before me and asked, Grandpa, is God here?

Yes He is, I said.

Is He outside, too? he asked.

Yes, honey. God is everywhere, I answered.

Shawn smiled and went again to the patio door, opened it and said, God, give me the broom!

This was enough to cause me to laugh aloud, but that laughter stopped short a second later when the broom fell into the door. It had been leaning against the wall alongside the door for days and chose that moment to fall sidewise and into the door...

Was it just an accident? Shawn didnt think so for he smiled and said, Thank you, God!

What do you think? Did that broom just happen to fall at that moment, or did God give it a nudge? I think God answered Shawns prayer and gave him the broom.
